As I begin to think of today Sunday being Christmas, I can't but stop to talk about the personality on which the day revolves around. I will not try to expound, nor exhort, or try to share any special revelation or rhema but like Charles R. Swindoll, i will only amplify what the Bible call Jesus, this wonderful gift of God to mankind. You don,t have to get a Bible, i'll get one for you here.
Paul had been saying somethings to the Corinthian church about the gift they had promised to give and at the last verse, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, he uses a word to describe Christ, God's gift to mankind, the adjective used here in the Greek translates 'anekdiēgētos' 'an-ek-dee-ay'-gay-tos', which translates indescribable.
Scholars posit that no where else in the whole of the scripture does this word exist.
A lot of things can be said to be superb and grandeur but not indescribable.
Creation was magnificent but not indescribable.
The flood and the ark was accurately calculated but not indescribable.
Parting of the Red sea was aah, awesome as well as scary, but not indescribable.
Staying the sun was super, but not indescribable.
The shepherd boy bringing down Goliath was superb but certainly not indescribable.
Only Christ, only God's Gift to humanity does the scripture use the Greek adjective indescribable.
Oh, I said i will not sermonize, i forgot, pardon me, let's have a glimpse of what scripture says of this gift:
(MKJV) 2Co 9:15 Thanks be to God for His unspeakable free gift.
(ISV) 2Co 9:15 Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
(GW) 2Co 9:15 I thank God for his gift that words cannot describe.
(GNB) 2Co 9:15 Let us thank God for his priceless gift!
(ESV) 2Co 9:15 Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!
(CEV) 2Co 9:15 Thank God for his gift that is too wonderful for words!
(AMP) 2Co 9:15 Now thanks be to God for His Gift, [precious] beyond telling [His indescribable, inexpressible, free Gift]!
(WTNT) 2Co 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his ineffable gift.
(NLT) 2Co 9:15 Thank God for his Son-a gift too wonderful for words!
(MSG) 2Co 9:15 Thank God for this gift, his gift. No language can praise it enough!
As you ponder on the above, permit me to wish you Merry Christmas.
